HTX will become better equipped to help the Home Team improve its capabilities in areas such as cybersecurity, firefighting operations, and forensic investigations following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Booz Allen Hamilton (hereafter referred to as Booz Allen).

Booz Allen is a US consulting and technology company that has a strong focus on national security and ties with US government agencies such as the FBI. Founded in 1914, Booz Allen serves a broad range of industries, including defence, intelligence, and law enforcement, and its capabilities span cybersecurity, data analytics, and engineering.

The HTX–Booz Allen MoU spans five key areas of importance for the Home Team:

  1. Improving the safety and operational efficiency of our first responders
  2. Strengthening our cybersecurity capabilities to build more resilient systems and defences against evolving cybersecurity threats
  3. Enhancing operational efficiency with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twin technologies
  4. Identifying game-changing technologies to remain at the forefront of innovation
  5. Creating a vibrant ecosystem of innovation through fostering research partnerships

HTX scientists and engineers have expressed excitement about the upcoming collaboration. Forensics Centre of Expertise Director Lim Chin Chin said: “The future of forensic science will be led by intelligence, not just evidence. Booz Allen and HTX are leveraging our collective strengths to redefine forensic science by harnessing digital tools to shift from static analysis to dynamic, intelligence-driven foresight.”

Human Factors & Simulation Centre of Expertise Director Ying Meng Fai, whose division will be involved in a wearable technology project, also shared that the partnership with Booz Allen to incorporate wearable technology, will not just address heat stress, but also optimise performances by providing frontline officers with physiological data to enhance decision making, resilience and overall well-being.

“When wearable technology meets human factors, especially in partnership with Booz Allen, we empower our frontline officers to listen to their bodies in real time, reducing heat stress and optimising physical and cognitive performance during high-risk situations,” he added.
